First Circular Economy SHOW-ROOM at the Slovenian Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy (SVRK)
22 December 2022, Ljubljana

SVRK is one of the first public administrations to recognise the importance of promoting and raising awareness of circular resource management to protect the environment and reduce the consumption of virgin materials. In cooperation with the studioKroG project, the idea of a permanent "Show-room of reuse" in the premises of the SVRK was put into practice. The show-room shows an example of the possibilities of circular resource use through the example of furniture and design, while also making an important contribution to understanding the circular concept and reducing waste in everyday life.

The Norwegian Financial Mechanism, in cooperation with the SVRK, co-finances circular economy projects at national level with the aim of contributing to the practical implementation of the Slovenian Development Strategy 2030. The funding of such projects supports the circular economy so that it becomes embedded in the social system and society has the opportunity to contribute to the reduction of GHG emissions in practice.

The "show-room" is symbolic of the awareness and support approach to environmental policy making and the attempt to integrate the reuse/circular economy into the social system. It is important to underline that the act of reuse in the example of the show-room is a specific form that involves a process of valuing resources and redirecting attention to the material properties of products, so that they do not become waste and raising our awareness that we can redirect waste into (reusable) resources and products.

The opening of the "show-room" is also intended to make people think more when shopping in these pre-holiday days. Re-use is a sustainable form of moral and consumer restraint against the expectations of a consumer society.
