»Working together for a green, competitive and inclusive Europe«
Today, pupils of the 4th and 5th grades had a science day entitled "Creative workshops of the circular economy", organised by ZRS Bistra Ptuj and CPU within studioKroG.
In the introductory part, the pupils listened to what the circular economy means. They also watched a short educational film about climate change.
They learnt how they can create a real home out of a used shipping container and other worn-out items, without using a lot of new materials or natural resources.
The pupils brought with them used food and medicine boxes, which they used to build a container village with all the necessary buildings (schools, municipalities, a fire station, a health centre, a market, a football field, etc.).
They also brought old T-shirts to make carrier bags and jewellery.
They crumpled up sheets of paper from worn-out books and made a document editor. At the same time, they were introduced to the 3D printer.
A very interesting workshop was the electronics workshop, where the pupils were able to use screwdrivers to open outdated computer equipment and other household appliances and see what was inside, in order to learn how to open and close an appliance properly when they wanted to repair it.
As the students said, »the time went by very quickly, the work was interesting and we could have done it all day!« The pupils were so enthusiastic that they are going to try it at home.
StudioKroG showed the young people how circular economy works through repairs, reuse, making new products out of old t-shirts, paper and allowed them to spend a day of activities creatively in a slightly different way and learn a lot of new things in an experiential way.
A big thank you to Hajdina Primary School for opening the door to the circular economy and for the excellent support in organising the studioKroG workshop!
